Using Thiessen Polygons to Map National Parks
Part 1 of project 2 included mapping common projected coordinate systems and their associated distortions.
Part 2 included creating Thiessen polygons and using zonal statistics to map the closest National Park to any given area in the US. Skills learned include:
Explore, visualize, and quantify distortions associated with different projection types using the buffer, thiessen polygons, measure features, calculate field, and calculate geometry tools
Change vector and raster projections
Define projection for datasets with no correctly defined projection
Automate geoprocessing tasks with batch processes
Correct missing or incorrect coordinate system definitions
Explore techniques using a conservation and protected areas case study
