The goal of project 2 was to georeference and digitize historical maps to analyze land cover changes over time in the San Juan islands as a group. Skills learned include:

• Georeference scanned images with no existing spatial coordinates

• Use coded domains for quality control of attribute values 

• Digitize to create vector representations of features on scanned images

• Conduct change analysis using vector data

• Combine data from multiple analysts to create a seamless dataset

• Maintain data quality and consistency when working as part of a multi-analyst team

• Become familiar with sources for historical spatial dat and modern aerial photographs
